GPT-3.5

Smartphones have had a significant impact on modern life, and chatGPT (short for Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is a natural language processing tool that can be used to enhance the capabilities of smartphones. Here are some ways in which smartphones and chatGPT can improve daily life: 1. Communication: Smartphones allow us to stay connected with others through various messaging and communication apps, such as text messaging, social media, and video calling. ChatGPT can be used to improve the messaging and communication experience by providing intelligent responses and suggestions in real-time. 2. Productivity: Smartphones can be used to manage tasks, schedule appointments, and access important documents on the go. ChatGPT can be used to provide assistance with tasks and help users stay organized. 3. Entertainment: Smartphones provide access to a wide range of entertainment options, including music, movies, TV shows, and games. ChatGPT can be used to suggest content based on a user's preferences and provide recommendations for new media to explore. 4. Navigation: Smartphones come with built-in GPS and map applications that can help us find our way around unfamiliar places. ChatGPT can be used to provide directions and recommendations for nearby points of interest. 5. Health and fitness: Smartphones can be used to track physical activity, monitor sleep patterns, and access health-related information and resources. ChatGPT can be used to provide personalized fitness and health recommendations bassed on a user's activity data. Overall, smartphones and chatGPT can make our lives more convenient, connected, and efficient by providing access to a wide range of information and tools at our fingertips.

GPT-6 Astra

Smartphones, combined with ChatGPT, can change daily life by making information and assistance available almost anywhere. Here are some practical ways:

  • Learning: Students can get explanations, practise languages, and create quizzes.
  • Work: People can draft emails, summarise documents, brainstorm ideas, and prepare for interviews.
  • Daily planning: ChatGPT can help make shopping lists, plan meals, organise schedules, and suggest travel itineraries.
  • Communication: It can translate text and help write clearer, more polite messages.
  • Creativity: Users can develop stories, captions, recipes, and project ideas.
  • Accessibility: Voice conversations and image-based questions, where available, can make digital assistance easier to use.
  • Understanding information: People can ask for simple explanations of complicated topics, including technology and general health information.

For example, you could use your phone to photograph ingredients and ask ChatGPT for meal ideas, or practise a job interview while travelling.

However, ChatGPT can make mistakes. Check important information, protect personal details, and seek qualified advice for serious medical, legal, or financial decisions.

In short, a smartphone provides convenient access, while ChatGPT adds an interactive assistant that can help people learn, communicate, and solve everyday problems.

What changed

GPT-3.5’s answer is really about smartphones, with ChatGPT bolted onto each point as a promise it couldn’t keep. In 2022 the chatbot couldn’t see your location or read your fitness tracker, yet the answer claims it “can be used to provide directions” and give recommendations “based on a user’s activity data.” Each item follows the same pattern: a sentence on what phones do, then a vague “ChatGPT can be used to” add-on.

Astra flips the emphasis toward things a person can actually do with the app in their pocket: translate a message, “photograph ingredients and ask ChatGPT for meal ideas,” or rehearse a job interview on the bus. Those concrete examples are the most useful part of either answer. Its closing warning that “ChatGPT can make mistakes” is fairly stock, but here it’s relevant, since the list includes health information. Both answers stay at brochure level, but only Astra’s brochure describes the real product.

From December 2022 to March 2023, visitors to LearnGPT, the earlier version of Emergent Mind, shared ChatGPT conversations they found useful or funny. On October 19, 2026, each prompt went to GPT-6 Astra exactly as it was shared: one message, no system prompt, default reasoning effort. Claude Opus 5.5 wrote the analysis under each pair after reading both answers. Original answers appear as the people who shared them pasted them. A few examples are left out because they depended on missing context or weren't appropriate to republish.
