Creating versatile prompts
I need to come up with a variety of prompts that are versatile but also specific enough to be effective. I’m thinking about generating eight different prompts that explore various styles and subjects, avoiding any unnecessary information that might confuse things. It’s important that each prompt serves a unique purpose while still being interesting and engaging. A balance would be great! Let's focus on clarity and creativity here as I develop these prompts.
What changed
GPT-3.5 wrote assignments, not prompts. Lines like “Create a digital landscape that reflects the beauty of nature” read like art-class briefs for a human, and they leave unmade every decision an image generator needs: which landscape, what light, what medium. “Generate a surreal still life with unexpected elements” essentially asks the machine to invent the prompt itself. One entry even requests an “animated representation,” which a still-image tool can’t deliver.
Astra writes the thing you would actually paste in. Each entry stacks subject, setting, medium, lighting and palette in the comma-separated style generators respond to: “glass whales swim through the sky,” “dewdrops acting as magnifying lenses,” “teal and magenta palette.” Small touches like “tiny ships nearby for scale” and “no lettering” show awareness of where these tools tend to go wrong. The answer is far longer, but the extra words are the content, and the closing formula teaches the reader to write their own. GPT-3.5’s list still works as a theme brainstorm, just not as prompts.
